House W by Hammerschmid, Pachl, Seebacher – Architekten

The gently sloped site is located in the municipality of Mitterberg in the Enns Valley (Austria), within a small village structure. Here the immediate surrounding landscape and the alpine formations Grimmig and Dachstein combine to a almost kitschy ensemble. Playing with abstraction, the dealing with building form and the quality of craftsmanship are constant companions during the planning and execution phase. Due to the U-shaped plan the house provides a courtyard and partially covered open areas that are to be understood as an intermediary between inside and outside.
