About Midcentury Apartment

Celebrating One Year in a Designer Space

A year after completion, Yuri Zimenko’s project stands triumphant. The clients have spent a year in their apartment, and not once have they wished to alter its design. Initially, Zimenko harbored concerns about the space’s livability and style accuracy. Yet, a year’s validation has proven the design’s triumph—no changes desired, a true testament to success.

Crafting a Bold Family Home

Yuri Zimenko tailored this daring interior for a family with a child. Nestled in a new building in the city’s heart, the open-plan layout spans 120 square meters (approximately 1292 square feet). From day one, the clients had a clear vision, held firm in their choices, and brooked no compromises. Such clarity empowered Zimenko to craft a space with confidence and precision. White walls, a clutter-free aesthetic, and an overarching sense of lightness define the space—an objective deftly achieved. Yet, the design doesn’t shy from artistic boldness, blending a minimalist ethos with select pieces of modern art.

An Artistic Harmony Across Spaces

Unifying the apartment’s diverse rooms is the parquet flooring, tinted in a soft milky hue—a surprising canvas laid in a traditional herringbone pattern but with a twist. Each room features vibrant floor accents, mirroring the dominant colors of the space: red in the corridor, green in the bedroom, and orange in the living room. This artistic flourish gains further momentum as the furniture perches on slender legs, complementing the ceramics by Ukrainian artist Lesya Padun and paintings by Belarusian Ruslan Vashkevich. The outcome is a harmonious blend of design precision and artistic flair, where every element conspires to create a space as functional as it is beautiful.
