About Scandinavian Lakeside House

A Dream Home Transformation in Willow Bend

Nestled on an acre of land overlooking a pond in the heart of Willow Bend of Plano, a once-dated, traditional home underwent a stunning transformation. Interestingly, the wife, with her roots as a “farmer’s daughter,” never dreamed of owning such an exquisite abode.

The Quest for the Perfect Dining Table

Finding a 15’ (45.7 feet) dining table proved challenging for a family of four. However, a local craftsman skillfully crafted a magnificent white oak table, perfect for neighborhood gatherings.

Stories Turned Into Interior Treasures

The clients shared numerous tales of their past and children. Recognizing the value in these stories, the designer seamlessly weaved their memories and symbols throughout every room. One striking feature includes a custom artwork collage above the family room mantel. From a tractor symbolizing the grandfather to the Russian alphabet highlighting the heritage of their adopted sons, each piece held a profound meaning. Additionally, Cambodian script added an extra layer of depth.

Merging Indoor and Outdoor Spaces

Eager to infuse nature into the home, the designer replaced the patio’s exterior wall with a vast folding door. Furthermore, the wall separating the dining room and breakfast area was removed, ensuring unobstructed views of the outdoors.

Prioritizing Function and Style

Every family member was thoughtfully considered in the design process. With two active young boys in the mix, durability became essential. Thus, the home boasts outdoor fabrics and scratch-resistant finishes in every room, ready for any challenge—even a fleet of hotwheels.
