About Soho Triplex

Creating a Unified Family Home with Rooftop Access

The project’s goal was to connect three separate floors to form a single family home complete with rooftop and terrace access. To create a space where family members could sense each other’s presence, we chose to sacrifice floor area. We crafted two distinct floor openings – one in the intermediate slab and another spanning all floors for the staircase. A large, bronze-finished helix serves as the central core of the house, generating a sense of generosity on an otherwise modest floor plan and becoming an impressive architectural feature in its own right.

Incorporating Exquisite Details and Custom Furniture

By focusing on designing exquisite details, we established a sense of variety, which was further enriched by a thoughtfully curated collection of daily life architectural and domestic objects. This assortment was complemented by custom-designed furniture pieces as well as a mix of mid-century and contemporary designs.

A Luxurious Material Palette and Restored Street-facing Arch

Our material palette included walnut, marble, glass, steel, bronze, and finely woven fabrics, which elevated the overall experience and provided different sensations depending on the side of the building and the time of day. We restored the large street-facing arch to its original splendor, enclosing it with a single pane of glass framed in a steel structure.

Artwork Enhancing the Spatial Experience and Personalizing the Home

Site-specific artworks, along with pieces from the clients’ own collection, completed and further enriched the spatial experience. More importantly, these art pieces contributed to transforming the project into a true family home.
