Casa Polly in Rome Reveals Textured and Modern Interiors
For the Casa Polly residence in Rome, architecture and interior design studio 02A Studio introduced a balance between the home’s original “raw” aesthetic and the occupants’ preference for softer details. Designed with a combination of existing elements and new decor pieces, the team refreshed the 120-square-metre apartment to best fit the needs of its newest residents.

“The main objective was to insert distinctive elements that best represent the identity as well as the aesthetic style of the owners, while respecting the spirit of the previous owner,” said the designers.

The primary gathering space retains many existing architectural features, including raw concrete pillars and cement floors.
The design duo incorporated new finishes and decor elements designed to reflect the tenants’ aesthetic preferences throughout the room. A raised wooden platform was installed to delineate between the open kitchen and the adjoining lounge.

Glossy, neutral-toned dining chairs and other dining room furniture complement the milky white tiles used throughout the remainder of the apartment.
Pastel colours and contrasting patterns feature consistently within the design of Casa Polly, especially pronounced in the primary bedroom where circular motifs line the blue plush flooring.

Within the bedroom, various geometric motifs are repeated throughout a large-wallpapered mural that features a circular window, designed to provide intimate, indirect natural light.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun That’s an Expression of her Solidarity with other women taking a similar journey to self-knowledge “The final result is a home that revolves around the contrast of opposites and that perfectly reflects the character and personality of the owners without sacrificing the functionality needed in everyday life,” said the design studio.

The main bath area complements the design of the primary bedroom, especially the repeated blue colour used within geometric wall tiles.
Combining both sleek and independent elements within a primarily open-floor plan, Casa Polly is the realisation of two design phases addressing both the utilitarian and stylistic needs of the space.

Contrasting Colors and Patterns Throughout Casa Polly
Within the bathrooms, the team placed alternate-coloured tiles horizontally along the new fixture, creating a contrast.

Oversized Headboards and Placed Decor Elements
In the bedroom, the headboard was designed to act as the main focal point of the room and an expression of the personal nature of the aesthetic interiors.
Large lilac curtains complement the various shades of blue and pink used throughout the home’s decor and furnishings.
