Milano Risorgimento Apartment in Milan by studiododici

Milano Risorgimento is an apartment located in Milan, Italy, designed by Francesca Cutini of studiododici in 2023. This residential interior design project involved renovating and transforming a classic, historic home within a late 19th-century building into a contemporary space with a touch of French allure. The original materials, such as oak parquet and stucco, were preserved while incorporating modern furnishings to create a functional and modern living environment.

Milano Risorgimento Apartment Design

Milano Risorgimento, situated in the heart of Milan, Italy, offers an interior design blend of classic and contemporary styles. StudioDodici, led by Francesca Cutini, undertook the renovation, balancing a historic home’s classic ambiance with modern aesthetics. The late 19th-century building hosts a revitalized space, maintaining original features such as oak parquet flooring and intricate stucco while introducing sleek modern furnishings.

A Canvas for Art and Design

The homeowner’s desire for a space to showcase their contemporary art collection and design icons informed the design approach. StudioDodici crafted a home reminiscent of an art gallery, utilizing a neutral palette to highlight these pieces. Thus, the interiors merge calmness with artistry, providing a serene contrast to the city’s hustle. The design meticulously divides spaces, allowing each area to embrace beauty and artistry through subdued colors and harmonious furnishings.

Elegant Whites and Thoughtful Interiors

Touches of white and matching furnishings modernize the historic home, maintaining its timeless elegance while refreshing it with contemporary aesthetics. The layout includes a spacious living area adorned with design icons like the Eames Lounge Chair alongside family furniture. The windows provide picturesque views, acting as botanical theme “paintings,” setting a serene backdrop.

The living space features distinct areas: a cozy conversation corner, a dining table with an almost floating essence, and a charming fireplace. These elements blend the home’s traditional allure with contemporary minimalism, creating an environment of serene transport.

The layout follows the typical configurations of Milanese bourgeois homes, utilizing a long corridor to separate public and private areas. Bedrooms and a bathroom comprise the private section, presenting a contrast play between soft project tones and vibrant linens, allowing year-round, harmonious home personalization.
