OA Apartment by Maya Sheinberger Has Minimalist Yet Functional Interior
The OA Apartment, designed by Maya Sheinberger in 2024, is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. This meticulously crafted apartment combines minimalist and functional design elements to create a warm, inviting space. With custom-built features, an open-concept kitchen, and smart home solutions, it’s tailored to the lifestyle of its residents.

Originally installed in a 100-square-meter building, the home didn’t reflect the lifestyle of its new owners. The couple were looking for a balance between the energy of city life and a quiet retreat, prioritizing aesthetic appeal and everyday functionality. The designer, known for her precise approach, worked closely with the owners to transform the apartment into a harmonious space.

To meet the couple’s needs, Sheinberger reconfigured the layout, focusing on functionality and high-quality aesthetics. The project required strategic decisions, including a hidden utility area to maintain order and custom-made double-sided joinery to serve both the living area and the bedroom, maximizing storage space.

On entering, guests are faced with a bright and airy space, designed as the heart of the house. The herringbone oak parquet floor adds warmth and texture, complementing the light-toned custom woodwork and softly colored walls. The neutral color palette, accented by deep, moody tones, creates a balanced and inviting atmosphere.

The open-plan kitchen, relocated to improve spatial flow and natural light, is characterized by a spacious central island instead of a traditional dining table. The walnut veneered cabinets and clear, crisp countertops create a visually appealing contrast. Inside the cabinets is a pink coffee nook, providing a personalized, hidden touch.

Behind a hidden door, a meticulously planned utility area includes a washer and dryer and ample storage, a solution that optimizes space without sacrificing functionality. The living room, with a large sofa and custom walnut bookshelves, is designed to be a comfortable living space, anchored by a cream-colored carpet and enriched by bold works of art.

The apartment also features a spacious urban balcony, which enhances the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as a master bedroom that offers a tranquil retreat. The boutique-inspired bedroom features a dark wood headboard, elegant textiles and cleverly integrated lighting.

The bathrooms continue the theme of understated elegance, featuring sleek white Corian countertops, green sinks and stone-textured tiles. A contemporary shower replaces the traditional bathtub, aligning with the couple’s routine, while the addition of a high-tech TOTO washbasin elevates the experience.

The apartment incorporates a smart home system, allowing residents to effortlessly control lighting, climate and privacy settings via an app or voice commands. Sheinberger’s attention to detail and focus on functionality create a living space where comfort and sophistication coexist in harmony.
