Rigel by Alexandra Buchanan Offers Panoramic Brisbane Views

Rigel is an impressive addition to the Coorparoo landscape, carefully designed by Alexandra Buchanan Architecture in 2023. Perched on a steep slope in Brisbane’s Inner Southern suburb, the house was created with a dual purpose: to capture stunning panoramic views of Whytes Hill Reserve and Brisbane, while also serving as an executive family home.

The architects’ vision was to seamlessly integrate the structure into its natural surroundings. Using a soft natural color palette and a refined façade, the elevated dwelling harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.

A majestic bottle tree frames the entrance, leading to a raised entrance void that forms the heart of the house. This central space allows the public and private areas to orbit, facilitating fluid circulation throughout the house.

The design maximizes the expansive views, drawing the eye to the captivating landscape, both inside and out. Stone walls embrace the property, defining the boundaries and creating a sense of enclosure. An elevated yard, enveloped by lush vegetation, offers a serene retreat. Meanwhile, terraced planting around the pool increases privacy and frames the views from the living spaces.

Outdoors, the interplay of light and shadow on natural materials adds depth and texture, enriching the visual experience. Through thoughtful design choices and meticulous attention to detail, Rigel embodies a harmonious fusion of modern elegance and natural beauty, inviting residents to immerse themselves in the splendor of their surroundings.
