CCC House Sidoarjo by GeTs Architects

Set along one of Java’s busiest toll roads in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, CCC House Sidoarjo is a peaceful retreat designed in 2017 by GeTs Architects. With a contemporary design that is inviting yet understated, the structure combines simplicity and functionality.

Balancing urban connection with residential serenity, this multifunctional building strikes a serene presence while serving as a rest area and marketing gallery for a nearby residential community.

Careful organization

The building is carefully organized in a triangular plot, with different sections of the structure dedicated to specific functions. Special attention was paid to the orientation of the clubhouse, positioning it in such a way as to reduce noise from the nearby toll road, while at the same time providing a clear and open view of the housing complex. This design strategy ensures that the building functions as a tranquil sanctuary, while remaining connected to the residential area it supports.

Distinct volumes for designated functions

The structure is deliberately separated into distinct volumes, each reflecting its intended function – the toll road rest area, the clubhouse and the marketing gallery. This careful arrangement not only improves the flow and experience within the space, but also creates a welcoming and familiar atmosphere, without overwhelming the surrounding residential design.

Console roof over the swimming pool

Visually, the upper part of the building is a striking pure white mass, designed to catch the eye and convey a sense of modernity. This elevated form seems to float above the ground, with its light color creating a strong contrast with the softer tones of the lower structure. The cantilevered design achieves an airy, elevated look, giving the building a sense of levity and openness. At the heart of the clubhouse is its multifunctional space, designed to host a variety of activities and events. The main hall extends effortlessly onto an outdoor terrace, providing a perfect link between the indoor and outdoor environments. This flexible space can accommodate community meetings and social events, or simply provide an extended area for relaxation, reinforcing the club’s role as a focal point for the community.

Weatherproof amenities for the whole family

One of the most striking features of the club’s interior area is the aforementioned cantilevered roof that extends over the pool area. This carefully designed roof provides shelter, allowing the pool to be used whatever the weather. It ensures that the space remains functional and inviting even on rainy days, creating a family atmosphere where parents can comfortably supervise their children. The adjacent children’s pool has a playful water slide, which was initially designed to connect to the playground area. The integration of the slide was a response to the level challenges on site, creating a seamless transition between the two spaces while maintaining a fun and engaging experience for the children.

Supporting community life

As well as a place of leisure, the clubhouse functions as a sports and activities center for residents. It promotes a sense of community, providing recreational and social opportunities that bring the neighborhood closer together. This design element helps transform the clubhouse not only into a place for relaxation, but also into a vibrant hub for family activities and a central part of the residential experience.

Circulation and Connectivity

The design of the clubhouse carefully creates a smooth circulation path between the various sections of the building. The striking white top box, which serves as a visual focal point, is easily accessible through a series of well-defined passageways that guide visitors throughout the space. These routes improve the clubhouse’s accessibility, ensuring that all areas are well connected and seamlessly integrated. Special attention was paid to the circulation design to encourage easy entry for vehicles coming from the toll road, since the clubhouse also serves as a marketing gallery for the nearby housing complex.

Visual impact and connection

The contrast between the white upper mass and the dark brown lower section creates a dynamic visual impact, while the design of the building ensures that it remains functional and inviting to all who visit. The white upper section, with its cantilevered roof, was intentionally designed to draw attention from the highway, appearing to almost float above the ground. This design element not only enhances the aesthetics, but also draws attention to the building from the road, inviting drivers and passengers to stop and explore. Between the two masses, the circulation area continues the flow, easily connecting the different parts of the club. The integration of these elements creates a harmonious balance between beauty and practicality, making the clubhouse an inviting destination for travelers looking for a break, while at the same time playing a key role in presenting the residential community it represents.

Serving the neighborhood

In short, the clubhouse serves as a quiet stop along Java’s toll road, offering a functional and welcoming retreat. Its simple yet elegant design, combined with family-friendly features, makes it a place where residents and travelers alike can relax and connect, while subtly promoting the surrounding housing development.
