Odéon Apartment Transformed by Studio Baha

Nestled under the rooftops of the Left Bank, in the heart of the Odéon district, this 80m² apartment in Paris, France, designed by Studio Baha, completely rethinks the layout with an open concept living space. Natural light pours generously through Velux windows, highlighting a harmonious dialogue between warm wood, raw stone, and brushed stainless steel. A sculptural terracotta fireplace becomes the focal point, lending the entire space a nearly museum-like quality.

Natural Light Illuminates a Material Dialogue

Natural light pours generously through Velux windows, gliding over surfaces and revealing the textures of carefully selected materials: a harmonious dialogue between warm wood, raw stone, and brushed stainless steel. A structural constraint – an immovable central post – becomes an asset, structuring the space without partitioning it, subtly defining the transition between the kitchen area and the rest of the room.

A Sculptural Fireplace as the Heart of Domestic Life

At the heart of the living room, the fireplace becomes a sculptural feature around which domestic life revolves. Clad in terracotta tiles, its mineral texture and warm tone resonate with the very nature of the hearth. Studio Baha has framed it beautifully: on one side, a raised banquette, a promise of quiet moments for reading and contemplation; on the other, a platform for displaying artworks, lending the entire space a nearly museum-like quality. Notably, the space features a ceramic artwork by Natalie Rich (Galerie Jourdan, Galeria Gambien) as well as a sculpture by Nadine de Garam (Galerie Amélie Maison d’Art). Designed with functionality in mind, the banquette cleverly conceals discreet storage, aligning with the project’s overall spirit.

Dual Space on the Ground Floor

On the ground floor, a study transforms into a guest bedroom, while upstairs, the master bedroom is designed as a private suite. An oak-framed glass partition opens the bathroom to the bedroom, extending the flow of the space. Oak, raw stone, and polished concrete continue the material thread, while the headboard made of mixed terracotta tiles echoes the textures throughout the project, reinforcing its harmony.

A Selection of Unique Furnishings

With a focus on unique furnishings, Studio Baha selected vintage pieces and Italian designer creations, adding character and light to the space. Each piece was carefully chosen to complement the materials and enhance the atmosphere, blending timeless aesthetics with functionality.
