Casa Flora is a 70-square-metre apartment renovation in Bologna, Italy, designed by Jessica Pinotti in 2021. The project features natural materials and vibrant shades of green and pink, creating a light and restful atmosphere. The minimalist design draws inspiration from Mediterranean coastal houses. Key changes include an open-plan kitchen-living space and reconfigured hallway, accommodating the living area, study, and bedroom. The space emphasizes natural finishes and textures, offering a contemporary, airy feel throughout.
The refurbishment of this Bologna, Italy home involved removal of a kitchenette to make room for an open-plan kitchen and living room alongside some demolition of separating walls in the hallway.
The room is illuminated by the Nagoya hanging lamp by Santa & Cole.
A terracotta-clad monolith is used as a kitchen island that separates the kitchen from the living room and includes storage, all in green, and a cooking area whose backdrop features terracotta in geometric patterns.
Pinotti furnished the living space with a capacious brown cabinetry that delineates the hallway and study, resulting in a “matryoshka” effect that continues into the bedroom.
A number of items were fabricated to the designer’s specifications, including boiserie on the hallway, brick red chest of drawers, makeup table, dining area shelving/bench, and a pleated door separating the rest of the house from the hallway.
