Tom House by Lattes Salinas Arquitectos

The front facade was carefully designed to be less permeable, achieved by using solid lapacho wood parasols that obstruct the view from the outside while allowing the passage of natural light. Simultaneously, a green patio was incorporated, offering a unique perspective of the living room from the interior, opening up to this space and the galleries with views of the canal, marina, and boat ready for sailing.

Inside the house, the living room is visually separated from the kitchen by a rod-like piece of Petiribí wood, adding warmth to the space. The kitchen, in turn, is connected to the sitting area through a divided glass enclosure, intended to provide acoustic separation if necessary while maintaining visual connection with the exterior.

The highlight of the design is the staircase, which not only serves its functional purpose but also works as a decorative element. Composed of a solid wooden block descending diagonally from the upper floor, it invites residents to explore it while enjoying the views of the green surroundings.

The upper floor features a master suite with a large terrace that takes advantage of the beautiful views of the landscape, along with two additional bedrooms.

Throughout the entire project, wood was the primary material used, providing warmth to the overall design. It can be seen in the ceilings, wall coverings, stairs, and composite columns that adorn the galleries.

“Tom house” successfully achieves the desired atmosphere of a summer house, harmoniously blending the interior and exterior spaces, creating a home that embraces its environment and provides a unique living experience for its inhabitants.
