Sculpted Interpretation of Family History

Completed in 2023, this multi-level villa in Amman showcases Dada’s expertise in interior architecture and bespoke furniture design. A semi-circular sofa, designed by Dada, in cerused oak respects movement and sociability, enhancing the living room’s dynamic flow. Two large paintings engage in a dialogue across generations—Hala Choucair on one side, and her mother, Saloua Raouda Choucair, a pioneer of Arab abstract art, on the other.

Sober Tones Sculpting a Unique Space

It almost seems as though Dada has infused the space with the sober tones of the paintings. The villa unfolds like a sculpted interpretation of these works, rooted in the family history of the owners, showcasing the artistry and skill of Tarek Dada. A sculptural dining table with a glass top and mirrored metallic legs elegantly rests in the dining area. Dada’s asymmetrical design of the tabletop invites a seamless, flowing circulation.

Contrasting Materials Creating a Unique Character

Pendants are balanced on two light strands, leading the eye to the metal and marble bar, also designed by Tarek Dada. The appliqués, resembling luminous sculptures, stand out as intricate compositions of geometric forms crafted from various textures and materials. The wall lamp is a bold and distinctive contemporary language, instilling the interiors with a unique character that shifts throughout the day, shaped by the interplay of shadows and the colors cast by light.

Natural Materials Revealing Unique Textures

In this ultra-contemporary space, natural materials—metal, glass, brass, and wood—reveal their colors and textures, creating visual and tactile contrasts between the different levels of the apartment.

“While I studied architecture, I’ve always had a deep interest in furniture design. For this project, the majority of the pieces – sofas, tables, lamps – were custom made. The goal was to create a strong dialogue between the space and the furniture, with each piece tailored to ensure a natural flow throughout the house,” explains designer Tarek Dada.

Warm Woods to Enhance Relaxation

The walls are dressed in brass from the top of the staircase, down to an inviting lounge. On the ground floor, warm wood enhances the area dedicated to relaxation, marked by an open kitchen that extends to a terrace and an outdoor pool.
