Trullo GR by Reisarchitettura
Located in Fasano, Italy, Trullo GR is a house designed by Reisarchitettura that was completed in 2024. With a focus on the Apulian architectural style, this project integrates traditional materials and contemporary design with sustainable technologies, including a heat pump, photovoltaics, and home automation, to prioritize comfort and energy efficiency. The design showcases a commitment to blending local culture with modern advancements in the realm of architecture.

Structure Surrounded By Olive Groves
The property, surrounded by 8,000 m² of land with olive groves, includes a semicircular farmyard. This farmyard gives access to the dwelling and is bordered by a driveway connected by dry stone walls and two monumental oaks. The original building, dating back to the early 1900s, consisted of three “casedde” and six “trulli” – sloping, conical-roofed constructions used as dwellings and tool shelters by local farmers – and a flat-roofed section added in the 1960s.
Renovation Demolishes Newer Section
The restoration involved the demolition of the newer section, which was replaced by a new perpendicular volume that forms an “L” together with the existing structure and houses the living area of the dwelling. This new volume is equipped with large windows overlooking the garden and swimming pool to the north. The new volume is connected to the existing by a lowered glazed body, which serves as the main entrance and reduces its visual impact.
“Glazed Body” Connects To Existing Structure
The sleeping area is developed in the first two trulli and the three casedde to the south, with three independent rooms. The four trulli to the north, on the other hand, house the guest house, consisting of a living room, kitchen and two bedrooms with bathrooms.
Two Gazebos For Guests and Owners
In the garden and around the pool are two gazebos, a large one for the owners and a small one for guests, along with an outdoor shower and an oven. The materials and finishes follow the Apulian tradition, but with contemporary details.
Old Flooring Preserved in First Two Trulli
Interventions on the existing building were minimal: the stones of the masonry were cleaned and sealed, the exterior walls repainted with white lime, and the interior plasters renewed. The old floor present in the first two trulli has been preserved, while in the other rooms, where the floor was newer, it has been removed and replaced with smooth, minimal concrete, as also in the extension.
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency
The fixtures are natural oak, and the outdoor paving is local stone, washed concrete for the sidewalk, and wooden decking around the pool, comfortable for barefoot walking.
Attention to traditional materials is combined with sustainability and energy efficiency: air conditioning is provided by a heat pump powered by photovoltaic panels placed on the new extension, while a cistern under the outdoor pavement collects rainwater for reuse. Lights are LED for low consumption and high durability, and a home automation system allows remote management of the systems, optimizing consumption and comfort. Finally, an integrated outdoor sound and lighting system accompanies poolside evenings.
