Organised Around Six Patios

Located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, Seis Patios is a single-family residence designed for an art enthusiast seeking a home deeply connected to the natural environment. The project is organised around six patios, strategic voids that articulate the spatial layout, allow natural light and cross ventilation, and dissolve the boundaries between indoors and outdoors through the integration of vegetation in every space. At the heart of the volume lies the main patio, where the house fully opens toward a central pool, turning this space into a true gathering point.

A Livable Gallery

Conceived as a livable gallery, every corner is designed as a stage for art and colour. This chromatic exploration goes beyond decoration; it is used expressively in unconventional areas such as the bathrooms, giving them a vibrant visual identity that enriches everyday experience. The main façade features a system of pivoting panels that regulate the house’s openness to the exterior. When opened, they enhance cross ventilation in the public areas of the home, adapting to the climate and the daily needs of its inhabitants.

Sober And Warm Palette

Materially, combines a sober and warm palette, local wood, exposed concrete, metal, and glass come together to reinforce the connection with the natural surroundings. Each spatial transition is carefully designed to favor a gradual movement between light and shadow, integrating art and landscape in a functional and coherent way.

Embraces An Architecture

Casa Seis Patios aims to fulfil the desire to inhabit the landscape from a place of intimacy, without sacrificing comfort or character. The project embraces an architecture that responds to the climate, allows for the free flow of air and light, and turns daily life into a sequence of relationships with art and vegetation.
