BV50 House Harmonises with Swedish Forest Setting

In the coastal pine forest of Ljunghusen, Sweden, Johan Sundberg Arkitektur AB designed the BV50 house to harmonize with its natural surroundings. This modernist retreat, completed in 2023, features a cohesive material palette of brick, glass, wood, and Baltic limestone, reflecting the sandy landscape.

Organized around a central garden, the Swedish family home’s layout blends indoor and outdoor spaces. Inside, walnut and oak finishes, along with anodized aluminum details, enhance warmth and functionality, catering to the needs of a family with growing children.

Casa Mila by Isla Architects

Isla Architects has renovated a terraced home in Esporles, Spain, turning it into a light-filled space. Completed in 2024, the project involved opening walls to create a courtyard with various lighting features like sliding windows, skylights, and pivoting panels. The material palette includes lime mortar, green carpentry, and custom tiles, adding character to the main house and the newly added guest house on the adjacent plot.

11CK House, situated in Singapore’s Katong district, was redesigned by ONG&ONG in 2021. The restoration project maintains the heritage features mandated by the Urban Redevelopment Authority while introducing modern elements like a dramatic spiral staircase with mesh railings. Key design solutions include strategic skylights and small windows to enhance natural lighting and airflow.

The house features a blend of modern aesthetics and artisanal craftsmanship, evident in the carefully selected tiles used throughout, including in the plunge pool and kitchen.

Set in Villeurbanne, France, this unique real estate type underwent nearly a full reconstruction, highlighting a meticulous attention to detail. Lannoy curated a creative balance of contemporary aesthetics, natural textures and playful interior features, offering examples of modern design at its finest.
