About Stradella Ridge

Unique Design in Bel Air

SAOTA, along with US architect David Maman and Belgian designer Dieter Vander Velpen, created this unique Bel Air home. It sits on a steep, triangular lot, offering wide canyon views from Century City to the ocean. The design draws from the land’s shape and direction.

Elegant Exterior and Interiors

The house has a strong, angled exterior. The top is wrapped in white aluminum screens, floating over a solid concrete base. This base, a key street feature, includes a unique wave pattern, contrasting with the sturdy concrete.

As you enter, the design changes. Sharp lines lead to the entrance, moving from metal and concrete to soft travertine. The contrast between the outside entrance and the open living area inside is striking. The house design emphasizes the views, especially from the pool terrace down the canyon.

Connecting Inside and Outside

The spacious living area focuses on the outside view. Walls of glass connect the inside with the outdoor pool area. This merges the main living spaces with the outdoors. The design not only frames the views but also provides privacy, bringing nature’s peace into the home.

Inside, the home uses simple shapes and materials like stone, wood, and bronze. This gives a unified, artistic feel. From the kitchen to the marble bath, natural materials add a sense of comfort and well-being.

Overall, the house balances solid and light elements, sharp and smooth shapes, combining a strong street presence with beautiful views. It stands out architecturally while providing a comforting living space.
