Hidden Egg Treehouse by Joel Allen

Hidden Egg Treehouse by Joel Allen

The HemLoft is a self-funded secret creation that I built on crown land in Whistler, Canada. It hangs on a precipitous slope, in a towering stand of hemlocks, about a five minute walk from the nearest road. When I started building it, I was just a fledgling carpenter, living out of my car. Building an experimental orb deep in the woods, with no electrical power, isn’t the recommended way to ease yourself into carpentry. However, I was armed with a couple of the most powerful tools a carpenter can have: blind naiveté and supreme determination.

Underwater Hotel: The Water Discus

Underwater Hotel: The Water Discus

Water Discus Hotels comprise two discs – an underwater and above-water one. This combination will allow guests to admire the depths of the ocean while making the most of the warm climate. The two parts of the structure are connected by five solid legs and a vertical shaft containing a lift and stairway. The size of each disc has been adjusted to local conditions.

Rest Stops by J. Mayer H. Architects

Rest Stops by J. Mayer H. Architects

The head of the Roads Department of Georgia commissioned J. MAYER H. Architects to design a system of 20 rest stops for the new highway, a thoroughfare that will run through Georgia and serve as a connection between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey. Two rest stops are now complete, while a third is currently under construction. The new rest stops are located on selected scenic viewpoints along the route and serve as activators for their area and neighbouring cities, including not only nearby a gas stations and supermarket, but also a farmers market and a cultural space for local arts and crafts. Enjoy!
