StudioMadera has renovated a 160-square-metre Brasilia Apartment in Madrid, Spain. The project involved creating an open-plan living space for an urban couple, with areas for socialising, working, and relaxing. StudioMadera aimed to provide natural light and ventilation while offering a mix of industrial and cosy aesthetics in the updated interiors.
Brazilian designer Leandro Garcia has created an apartment with fluid and flexible spaces in Curitiba. Designed in 2023, the Cinza Apartment features a mix of textures and a gradient color scheme, utilizing Brazilian marble and ebonized oak carpentry. The interior combines vintage and contemporary pieces, including works by renowned designers like Jorge Zalszupin and Sergio Rodrigues.
Studio Arthur Casas designed the MW Apartment in Recife, Brazil, with high ceilings to take advantage of its ocean views. The Brazilian studio embraced the exposed beams, encasing them with wood to create a distinct separation between the social, private, and service areas. Cool, resistant materials were used for the floors to match the tropical climate, and the walls are finished with cement paint. The apartment features an impressive art collection and bespoke furniture by renowned designers.
Chez D. is a three-bedroom apartment located in Bucharest, Romania, designed by Jooca Studio in 2021. The designers, Bianca Buruiană and Alexandra Stamate, reconfigured the layout during construction, introducing features like a glass partition in place of a brick wall to invite more light. The interior embraces the New Chic style, blending art and minimalism, with custom-made furniture and creative lighting adding to its characterful design.
Casa Petra is a retreat in Ceglie Messapica, Italy, designed by Alessia Angelini. It combines local architecture with contemporary design, featuring three renovated lamie and minimalist interiors. The retreat includes a raised terrace with a pool, outdoor kitchen, and Mediterranean garden, providing space for relaxation amidst a vineyard and olive grove.
JUMA Architects expanded Villa RN – an existing farmstead in Anzegem, Belgium, with the addition of a new volume positioned at right angles to the original structure. Designed in 2024, the extension features a distinctive black wooden facade and roof, creating a contemporary contrast.
Tiefes Haus is a house in Dreieich, Germany, designed by HGA Henning Grahn in 2023. The building features raw concrete surfaces and a polished terrazzo floor. Set on a narrow plot surrounded by villas and trees, the house incorporates elements from an existing structure. A two-story gallery with large glazing connects the interior, which includes a kitchen and living room with garden views. The facade, with varying window formats, aligns with the design’s concept.
Alicia Luxem designed “Turenne” in 2023, at this Paris apartment, where the interiors are defined by the use of lime-plaster walls and solid wood floors. In addition to the carpentry crafted from metal and locally-sourced, natural materials, this aesthetic is complemented by a “cutting-edge” art collection. Pale, neutral tones create a “calm shell”, accented by bold-coloured furniture found within the space. Vintage pieces with their “own stories” add “a bit of variety of colours” to the design.
