Studio BV founder Betsy Vohs restored a mid-century house in Palm Springs, California, adding solar panels and systems to enable it to function off the grid. Designed in 2024, Vohs acquired the Casa Amigo property in the desert city’s Movie Colony neighbourhood with the intention of turning it into a personal retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Newberg Ridge House is an all-concrete dwelling in Newberg, Oregon, designed by Giulietti Schouten Weber Architects. Completed in 2022, the structure features three main pavilions with low sloping roofs and large eaves. The house utilises concrete for both the slabs and the structural bearing walls, with a notable large board-formed wall accenting the entry.
Conundrum Creek Residence is located along the Conundrum Springs trailhead in Aspen, Colorado. Designed by Boulder-based Studio B Architecture + Interiors, the design creates a seamless connection with the environment. It is conditioned by local zoning and an inverted topographical site plan with views of nearby peaks. The home’s transparency encourages an interaction between the indoors and outdoors, while a covered patio connects the two wings to the home, enhancing indoor–outdoor living experiences with views that frame the Colorado wilderness.
The Regent’s Park Townhouse in London’s Westminster district was redesigned by Studio Arthur Casas in 2024. The interior design subtly integrates the homeowners’ art collection into the historic 1822 building’s preserved framework. Soft hues highlight the artwork, and strategic furniture placement ensures comfortable movement while retaining original spatial layouts.
The UZV house by Open Architecture Design blends tradition with a modern character in Uzava Parish, Latvia. Built on existing foundations from the Soviet era, this beachside home features a gray wooden finish with Japanese-inspired accents and a roof with wave-like detailing.
Villa D by FOS Architetti in Italy features an extension wrapped around traditional trulli, making them the core of the design. Completed in 2020, the house integrates into the landscape with local stone and large windows. The contemporary design of the extension utilizes natural materials and varying floorings, creating a dialogue with the pre-existing structures.
Tilde House, a Victorian house located in the UK, has been remodeled by Neil Dusheiko Architects. Designed in 2022, this project blends historic and contemporary elements. A striking modern extension features distinctive brickwork and a pleated roof design, creating a seamless transition from the original house. The interior showcases meticulous detailing, enhancing the modern living experience while preserving the home’s elegant past.
The DX House in Hanoi by X11 Design Studio features a jewel-inspired facade reflecting daily light changes. This minimalist home’s shared living areas and bedrooms, accommodate three generations, connected through a central skylight and garden rooftop. Sliding doors enhance river views, and natural stones combine with brick and wood for a rustic touch.
