Spanish studio ARK Architects has completed a minimalist residence encased in staircases to preserve ancient trees on the plot in Benahavís, Spain. Named Villa Kaizen, the home fits snugly between several leafy trees. The name “kaizen” translates from Japanese to mean “improvement” and refers to the home’s strict minimalism, which nods to archetypal Andalusian villas.

Sydney architect David Parsons has breathed new life into a Californian Classic bungalow in the leafy suburb of Rosebery, transforming it into a sun-drenched sanctuary that celebrates seamless indoor-outdoor living. Designed in 2022, this comprehensive renovation fulfilled the clients’ vision for an additional level with two bedrooms and an ensuite, a redesigned open-plan living area, and a new double garage.

Balancing heritage and height restrictions with the need for ample sunlight was a key challenge, but the meticulous design process, aided by 3D modelling, resulted in a solution that met all requirements.

Designed in 2023 by Capexus, with architectural cues from Mackovič Studio, this hotel stands near Vyšehrad and the Prague Congress Centre. It features a striking lobby centered around a lively bar, adorned with terrazzo flooring and a mix of wooden panelling and ceramic mosaics, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both business and leisure guests.
