Castle High is a contemporary coastal farmhouse located in Pembrokeshire National Park, Wales, United Kingdom. Designed by Hyde + Hyde Architects and completed in 2021, the property redefined an existing farmhouse that was in poor condition, thermally inefficient, and no longer fit for purpose. The innovative design, which offers dramatic views of the Irish Sea, combines old and new materials sensitive to the natural surroundings.

Rachcoff Vella Architecture has designed Gruyere ‘Hilltop Hood’, a farmhouse in Melbourne’s Yarra Valley. The house is perched atop a hill, offering panoramic views and featuring a cantilevered pitched roof. Its design integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, utilizing materials like handmade bricks and Colorbond cladding. The layout includes three distinct building wings, framing a protected courtyard.

Ignazio Mortellaro has transformed a 300-year-old Sicilian farmhouse into a sustainable, energy-efficient retreat called Casa Balat. Located in Noto, Italy, the project seamlessly integrates traditional materials with state-of-the-art green technology, like a geothermal system for air conditioning and water heating.

Casa Balat features an open-air shala for yoga, a saltwater pool, gardens, and a Bulthaup kitchen, all designed to minimize carbon footprint while providing luxurious and sustainable agriturismo accommodations.
