Milan-based architecture and design studio m2atelier unveils the interior design of a private, design-forward residence housed inside one of Mario Botta’s iconic buildings in the Lecco town of Merate. Working hand-in-hand with discerning clients, m2atelier crafted a multi-level home that responds to Botta’s monumental architecture with softness, spatial elegance, and sculptural restraint—an interplay of legacy and lifestyle, precision and poetry.
Lavasan Villa No.07, located in Tehran, Iran, was designed in 2024 by Amirhossein Tabrizi. Nestled on a 686-square-meter plot, this house features exposed concrete façades and natural wood interiors that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The villa’s layout focuses on privacy and spatial separation, integrating water features and a roof garden while harnessing ample natural light through a large skylight above the staircase.
Casa de Lavra is the reflection of the relation that architecture can create between the space and the client. The house, located in Matosinhos, Portugal, was designed in 2023 by Ricardo Azevedo Arquitecto. The project embodies the inner relation between the architect and the cliente, resolving problems identified from an analysis of the pre-existence. The concept sits on the will of being simultaneously inside and outside without identifying its limits.
Art House is built within the green oasis of Filothei, a neighborhood nestled within the bustling metropolis of Athens. Designed by Kallos Turin, the house incorporates the cubic volume – accentuated with poured concrete – to house the client’s world-class art collection in a gallery format, as well as the space for their extended families to converge. A native landscape was created as an extension of the preserved hillside from which the cube emerges.
Located in Salvador, Brazil, VB Apartment spans 255 square meters. Designed by FRS Arquitetura, the space prioritizes expansive ocean views and generous daylight. The project features a minimal partition design and integrates natural materials, including Nogueira wood and limestone, elevating the apartment’s atmosphere. Signature modernist furniture pieces stand out against layers of personal items and art curation, promoting a strong connection to this unique space.
Set in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria, this apartment reflects a modern perspective on the fading boundaries between leisure and work, private and public. Designed by PONY Architects in 2020, Apartment SG-DP reduces elements to those that support interconnectedness between living areas. Design interventions engage fixed elements using pure geometry that reinforces connections between spaces by thoughtfully allowing natural and artificial light, views, noise, and groups of natural vegetation.
Perched atop the lively landscape of Ramat Gan, this apartment is a thoughtfully designed family home that balances comfort, functionality, and sophisticated aesthetics. Crafted by Liat Hadas in 2020, its design reflects a contemporary yet timeless approach that creates a serene and elegant living environment, showcasing clean lines, natural materials, and a color palette that will age gracefully.
In a green dead-end street nearby Mechelen, House VMVK II has been engineered in 2022 by dmvA. This house, a renovation and extension of a 1960’s villa in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium, wanted to promote a maximum experience of the surrounding nature. The architecture blends in with nature. The existing volume has remained white, while the new additions are executed in black, framed by a glass façade.
