Searl Lamaster Howe Architects designed an apartment for a couple on Chicago’s north side. Infused with character, the modern design interplays refined materials, textures, and colors, contrasting the home’s previous extensive moulding and distinct rooms. Interior details at the 2021 renovation reflect the low-rise building’s intimate scale. South-facing exposure led to a deep breadth of textures and color, while flush-set door coverings and narrow oak flooring infuse continuity throughout the accessible home.
