About Ibis Budget
Transforming Public Spaces with Studio Shoo
Studio Shoo embarked on an exciting project to reinvent public areas for the Ibis Budget Tbilisi, effectively reshaping the budget brand’s approach towards technical and functional facilities.
An Inspiring Locale
Perched on Akhvlediani St, Tbilisi—a street loved by locals and visitors alike for its vibrant bars and restaurants—the hotel building immediately tapped into the locale’s distinctive street art and music, sparking creativity for the lobby design.
A Palette of Playful Colors
Deep into the interior, we embraced blue as the dominant hue, enhanced by dashes of light blue, fiery red, and radiant yellow. The reception desk, cupboards, and a ping pong table all don our color palette. We even extended our design flair to a sofa imprinted with Georgian letters and vinyl-crafted lighting fixtures.
Georgian Influence and Vintage Vinyl
The engaging and fluid nature of the Georgian alphabet stoked our creativity, its influence evident on wall panels and unique sofa prints. Behind a front desk styled like a music cassette, we introduced a shelf housing an exclusive array of vintage vinyl records.
Bringing Walls to Life
Adorning the walls are panels of natural plywood, complemented by striking graffiti of musicians and vivid accent lighting fixtures and furniture. These vibrant colors not only captivate but also effortlessly pique curiosity.
Designing for Diversity
We meticulously morphed the public space into a vibrant social hub, catering to all with distinct tastes and needs. A gaming zone with a ping pong table and PlayStation, a tranquil space for business discussions, a private corner for friendly chats, a local product market, and, crucially, an accessible area for the physically challenged.
The Multifunctional Ping Pong Table
The ping pong table remains a cherished design element, with its unique print conceived by artist Ksenia Stoylik. Besides offering a venue for lively games, it doubles as a communal breakfast table, striking the perfect balance between function and style.
