Found Object Transforms Industrial Building into Whimsical UK Apartment

The found Object apartment exemplifies the “Reclaimed Material” design philosophy by William Tozer Associates. Located in the United Kingdom, this apartment reveals unique industrial features. The iron beams and soaring ceilings associate it with its past, while raw materials such as concrete, brick, and steel communicate its history. Modern elements offer contrast and narrative layers, blending textures and stimulating interest through visual discovery and storytelling to create a cohesive interior environment.

Discovering the industrial sophistication of reclaimed materials

Located in the UK, William Tozer Associates’ “Reclaimed Material” initiative shines as a brilliant display of adaptive transformation. Created in 2019, this apartment wonderfully integrates contemporary aesthetics with the unrefined essence of its industrial surroundings. As you approach the structure, the austere exterior effortlessly hints at the delights hidden within.

As you enter, you come across a splendid display of architectural oppositions in the interiors. Raw and polished, the existing elements – brick, steel and concrete – combine gracefully. These materials act as a visual tribute to the structure’s roots, while the recently added equipment injects a sense of modernity into the environment. Contrasting white surfaces are set against the raw textures, arousing interest and ensuring coherence.

Living areas: An expedition through form and utility

When visitors enter the main living room, they are greeted by a breathtaking dance of materials. The high ceilings display structural beams, accentuating the industrial lineage of the space. A bold scarlet chair commands attention in the center, presenting a bold contrast to the muted color scheme. Behind it, a shelf full of books and art exudes warmth and inspiration.

Fluidity characterizes the arrangement. Glass partitions, reminiscent of warehouses, establish semi-private areas, softening the boundaries between rooms. The peeling paint on some walls tells a story of time, enriching the atmosphere with texture and depth. Large windows let in abundant natural light, enhancing the living experience and interweaving the various components of the interior.

Intimate spaces: Bedrooms and more

Entering the private section reveals a continuation of the duality theme. The bedroom features a combination of robust brick and elegant concrete, forming an oasis of tranquillity. Minimalist details combine with the unrefined materials chosen, creating a cozy atmosphere that is ideal for relaxing.

Moving on to the bathroom, the elegant outline of a soaking tub invites indulgence. The deep tones form a beautiful contrast with the lighter surfaces, highlighting the balance between old and contemporary. Strategically placed mirrors promote visual division, increasing the sense of space without compromising functionality.

In the “Reclaimed Material” project, William Tozer Associates skillfully strikes a balance between the traditional and the contemporary. The design encourages discovery and storytelling, exemplifying both heritage and modern existence. Through a meticulous selection of materials and environments, each area unfolds like a tale, reminding us that each reclaimed object has its own narrative.
