Villa Mirabel on the Dalmatian Coast

Villa Mirabel stretches along the steep coastline of Omiš, Croatia, drawing the Adriatic directly into its interior life. Designed by Alberta Nikolov as a modern house for gathering, it moves between rigorous geometry and relaxed comfort. Eight bedrooms, broad terraces, and generous wellness rooms turn the villa into a coastal retreat where contemporary lines meet custom-crafted indulgence.

Light falls across pale curtains and deep gray flooring, pulling the eye toward the horizon where sea and sky meet. A low sofa anchors the room while clustered pendants trace a loose constellation above.

This 800 m² house in Mimice, near historic Omiš, carries a distinctly modern interior by Alberta Nikolov, built around custom furniture and a bold palette. The project leans into clean lines and precise materials, but its atmosphere stays relaxed, shaped by long views, soft textiles, and generous terraces. Every room orients daily routines toward the water, from the main living areas to the most secluded bedroom.

In this coastal house, the plan supports an interior story about comfort and clarity. Living, dining, wellness, and sleeping zones are each tuned with specific materials and furniture, repeating wood, stone, and metal in different proportions. A strong emphasis on custom pieces keeps the rooms cohesive while letting each level carry its own mood.

Living Room Outlook

The main living room sits against a full-height glass wall, with the Adriatic filling the background like moving artwork. Deep gray sofas and low tables keep sightlines clear, so the view stays central even when the room is full. A series of sculptural pendant lamps in black, white, and copper tones hangs overhead, their woven shades casting delicate shadows that soften the strict ceiling grid. At one side, warm wood panels flank a dark stone hearth and television wall, turning the media zone into a calm vertical counterpoint to the horizontal horizon.

Dining As Gallery

Beyond the sitting area, a long timber dining table runs parallel to another glass wall, aligning daily meals with the terrace and pool outside. Slim, upholstered chairs in a pale tone bring quiet rhythm, while a row of smoked-glass pendants drops a warm, intimate glow over the tabletop. The adjacent kitchen continues the dialogue between dark surfaces and wood: black cabinetry, integrated appliances, and veined stone counters are framed by vertical timber elements and slender metallic pulls. Storage for wine and glassware turns the back wall into a composed display, so the room reads as both working kitchen and social gallery.

Bedrooms With View

Each of the eight bedrooms is planned as a small apartment, with its own terrace, lounge corner, and strong color accent. One suite uses a deep blue upholstered headboard and bed base against light walls and pale herringbone flooring, balancing calm tones with a single graphic floral mural at the far wall. Another leans into warmer hues: sand-colored textiles, orange cushions, and light wood framing a bed oriented straight toward the glass. Sliding doors open directly to covered outdoor seating, so waking up aligns with the sea-line before any other activity begins.

Wellness On Edge

On a lower level, the wellness zone groups a gym, large sauna, and a custom-built indoor jacuzzi into one quiet sequence. Dark wall panels and stone flooring wrap the pool room, making the water surface read bright and almost luminous by contrast. A built-in bench with layered cushions stretches along one side, giving swimmers a place to rest between laps or simply watch the garden outside. Every south-facing bedroom adds another layer of comfort with its own outdoor jacuzzi, placed along stepped terraces that track the coastline and extend daily rituals into the open air.

Outside, the infinity pool draws a sharp line at the terrace edge, echoing the distant islands. A pair of generous loungers under large white umbrellas sets the tempo for afternoons, with the indoor dining room reflected in the glass wall behind. As daylight fades and interior lighting warms, Villa Mirabel reads as one continuous interior landscape, carrying its palette of wood, stone, and soft textiles right to the water’s edge.
