Soho Triplex Reconnects Three Floors into a Single Family Home
Soho Triplex in New York, United States, by Studio Razavi + Partners turns three separate floors into one apartment. The 2022 project trades floor area for connection, using a bronze helix, paired openings, and a restored street arch to link daily life across levels. Walnut, marble, glass, steel, and woven fabrics give each room a distinct register as light shifts through the day.

About Soho Triplex
The brief calls for three existing but separate floors to become a single-family home with rooftop and terrace access. To make room for connection, the design gives up some floor area and opens the plan vertically.
A bronze-finished helix rises at the center. It gathers circulation, links the levels, and gives the modest floor plate a stronger sense of generosity.
Two openings shape the interior. One cuts through the intermediate slab, and another runs through all floors for the stair, bringing light and sightlines deeper into the apartment.
Careful detailing lends the home variety. Custom furniture, mid-century pieces, contemporary objects, and a collection of daily-use forms work with walnut, marble, glass, steel, bronze, and finely woven fabrics.
The street-facing arch returns to its original intended form with a single pane of glass set in a steel frame. Site-specific artworks and pieces from the clients’ collection complete the apartment and reinforce its domestic character.
