About Earth Wind and Fire
Reviving Tradition with Earth
Earth, a time-honored building material, shapes ‘The Village House’ into a harmonious blend of strength and breathability. From biblical references of creation to modern construction, earth remains versatile and robust.
The Village House: A Symphony of Spaces
Dubbed ‘The Village House’, this Sydney gem features multiple gables and distinct structures sprawling across a generous block. The estate boasts a chicken coop, a thriving vegetable garden, and a large workshop. Will Dangar’s landscaping artistry complements the grounds with a striking Cor-ten steel woodpile.
Additions to the original bungalow fan out, capturing northern sunlight. A pool house and a separate wing for the garage and laundry complete the layout.
A Cohesive Blend of Old and New
Rammed earth walls echo the property’s heritage, connecting with recycled bricks and timber shingles. Internally, a journey through time unfolds from the early 1900s veranda to the modern, curving steel staircase. The design pays homage to the past without imitation, using rammed earth, limestone, and timber to forge a timeless, inviting ambiance for a warm, sociable family.
