About East Maddison Home
Introducing: The Industrial Eclectic Family Haven
Designed specifically for an energetic family of five, this two-level home masterfully combines industrial materials with eclectic charm. At its core, the space brilliantly transforms for both sprawling gatherings and quiet, intimate moments.
Navigating the Heart of the Home
Upon entering, the very essence of the home immediately captures one’s attention. This vast room, crowned with a cathedral ceiling, seamlessly accommodates all public areas. Most notably, the eye-catching concrete curved staircase not only facilitates movement between floors but also serves as a visual masterpiece. Indeed, from virtually every angle of the two levels, this architectural gem remains in sight.
Harnessing Natural Elements
Situated on a rectangular greenfield plot amid a densely populated environment, the home is strategically designed to maintain a strong connection with nature. Large windows, placed thoughtfully, reinforce this bond with the outdoors. Additionally, spanning the main axis of the home, custom-made skylights punctuate the space. These not only provide breathtaking skyward views but also flood the interiors with natural light and offer temperature control, enhancing the overall ambiance.
The Versatility of the Atrium and Material Choices
On the atrium’s lower level, the space gracefully divides into four distinct segments: dining, kitchen, living, and lounge. These zones, either in isolation or conjunction, provide unparalleled versatility. Consequently, the family has found that this layout significantly enriches their interactions. On the floor above, the atrium further unveils an open living area, along with a study that peers down onto the public spaces below. Furthermore, a skybridge thoughtfully connects both the parents’ and children’s bedrooms to the iconic central staircase.
In terms of materials, a harmonious palette emerges. Stained timber, polished concrete, black painted steel, and red bricks coalesce, setting the stage for a warm and inviting interior. The utilitarian nature of concrete, juxtaposed against the rustic charm of timber, offers a balanced aesthetic. Moreover, the interiors, bathed in light, derive their vibrancy from strategically placed soft furnishings.
