Feng Shui Inspired House Design

17 Ong-Sa House is located on Chaloem Phrkiat Thi 9 Road in an area, where residential housing exits alongside industrial buildings. The design is inspired by a concept of a concept of 17 degrees form the north, which is ‘Feng Shui’ criteria. The location of the house is on a corner of a busy public road with heavy vehicle traffic, creating constant noise. The building’s exterior crafted to conceal it from view and block out the surrounding chaos. Additionally, it is situated at the entrance of a private road used by a factory, where people frequently come and go, further necessitating the need for privacy and seclusion from external disturbances.

House With Two Gable Roof Shapes

The house was designed to meet the owner’s request for privacy while maintaining functionality. The shape of the house, seen from the outside, resembles two gable-roofed buildings on the same plot of land. The gable roof at the front of the house serves as the master bedroom, while the inner gable roof covers the living room on the first floor and the children’s bedroom on the second floor. Both gable roofs are connected by a concrete roof at the first-floor level, which functions as the main entrance canopy. On the second floor, the concrete roof also serves as the roof for the staircase hall.

Garden Buffers Conceal Views

The house has been designed with openings that enhance privacy for the owner. On the first floor, windows and openings face a courtyard near the entrance, a garden nestled between the living room and kitchen, and another garden by the staircase hall. These three gardens act as buffers, blocking the view and noise from the surroundings. On the second floor, only necessary openings are incorporated, and the exterior walls are designed to conceal windows from direct external view. The house layout is tailored to suit the owner’s needs and aligns with the natural sunlight entering the building both in the morning and afternoon, maximizing comfort for living.

Open Plan Living Room With Angled Ceilings

The first floor features a car park beneath the building, which is connected to the garden and the main entrance. Upon entering the house, one will find a foyer for shoe storage, designed with a high ceiling. This foyer acts as a buffer against the afternoon sunlight. The living room, with an open-plan, double-volume design and angled ceilings following the external gable roof, creates a spacious, airy feel and allows natural light and ventilation throughout the day. This area serves as the central hub of the house, connecting to various other rooms, such as the office, kitchen, and staircase hall. On the second floor, the stairs lead to a hallway that connects the owner’s living quarters and the children’s bedrooms. This hallway also offers interaction with the high-ceilinged living room. The owner’s bedroom at the front of the building is designed with angled walls to block the view from the surrounding areas.

Triangular Garden In Front Of The House

Due to the positioning of the building at an angle to the road, a triangular garden area is created at the front of the house. The design also incorporates gardens in the courtyard and next to the staircase hall to enhance shade and reduce direct sunlight entering the living room.

Private And Peaceful Living Environment

17 Ong-Sa House is a residence that provides the owner and their family with a private, peaceful environment where they can live and relax comfortably all day long.
