Renovation by Sidehill Design Studio
Renovation is a house in Vermont, United States, redesigned by Sidehill Design Studio in 2023. What began as a kitchen remodel grows into a full-house reset, with the shell gutted, the plan rearranged, and the exterior renewed. New windows, upgraded systems, a screened porch, and a basement wine room give the home a cleaner sequence and a more practical daily rhythm.
About Renovation
This full-house renovation begins with a sketch for a simple kitchen remodel and grows into a project that touches the entire property. The existing home is gutted and rebuilt with improved insulation, new windows, and new electrical and mechanical systems.
Inside, the plan is reorganized to improve flow between rooms, with the kitchen and living areas reoriented to better suit daily use. A new screened porch extends off the living room, and a custom wine room is added in the newly finished basement. Outside, the house is reclad in nickel gap wood siding, the front walkway area is reconfigured to define the entrance, the rooflines are simplified, and standing seam metal replaces the original asphalt roof.
