House on the Woods is a Refuge Integrated into the Forest

Andrea + Joan Arquitectes designed the House on the Woods in Tarragona, Spain. Designed in 2023, the project features the rehabilitation of an old rural dwelling and its surroundings. It is conceived as an occasional residence, intended as a refuge integrated into the forest.

The preexisting dwelling lies within a set of disused stone walls, where a Mediterranean forest of pine and oak trees has grown over the years, creating a synergy between the architecture and the landscape.

For the Casa Polly residence in Rome, architecture and interior design studio 02A Studio introduced a balance between the home’s original “raw” aesthetic and the occupants’ preference for softer details. Designed with a combination of existing elements and new decor pieces, the team refreshed the 120-square-metre apartment to best fit the needs of its newest residents.

Side Angle Side transformed a 1970s rancher in Austin, Texas, into a spacious one-bedroom home. Designed in 2023, Reynolds Road was remodelled to improve energy efficiency and suit the homeowners’ lifestyle. Additions like solar panels, Tesla backup batteries, and rainwater collection provide reliable energy, allowing the property to go fully off-grid, as during a recent ice storm when power was out in the neighborhood.
