Neighbouring Hyde Park and on the fourth floor of a Victorian mansion block, the 252sqm (2700sqft) four bedroom apartment is inspired by the owner’s European and North African travels. Soft colors reflect a sunset setting, whilst contrasting stoney textures and earthy coatings of fabric create a harmonic tension. The apartment exudes understated luxury and features contemporary artwork from around the capital, creating a soothing sanctuary for the owner.
A new modern apartment in Madrid, Spain, designed by Febrero Studio, has been revealed this year. Located in the Chamberi neighborhood, the FEC Apartment was completely demolished, maintaining only the original structure of concrete pillars. As part of the renovation, Febrero Studio designed a central wooden module to bring order to the area and expand the living area. The wood was used to enhance the volume and the shape of the pavement. Hydraulic tile was kept throughout the house, due to the type and time of construction, giving the apartment unique charm.

The focus of the renovation was the reconfiguration of the social areas, in order to improve the relationship between the different spaces and equate the transition between them. Structural elements such as concrete, wood, glass and white marble were kept apparent, while a wood finish divides the spaces with several sliding doors. Furthermore, the woodwork was done in glossy white lacquer, leaving the spaces wider and clearer to show the original decoration pieces of the residents.
