The traditional Ibizan finca has undergone numerous transformations to suit its residents’ evolving needs over the years and required a series of updates to embrace a contemporary, grounded lifestyle, appropriate to the balearic locus.
The Desert Geode Residence, a house in Paradise Valley, Arizona, designed by Kendle Design Collaborative in 2024, is a visual masterpiece that embodies modern design principles. Nestled within the Arizona desert, its striking, angular silhouette of folding metal planes and blasted-face masonry evokes the layered beauty of a geode, marking a strong connection with its natural surroundings through an innovative use of light and shadow.
Dancing Light is a house located in Paradise Valley, Arizona, United States. Set in the desert, this home utilizes indigenous materials and emphasizes natural light, designed by Kendle Design Collaborative in 2016. Layered walls of rammed-earth, metal, concrete and glass create a playful collection of organic forms while visually articulating the various functions within. A floating roof canopy enhances the design and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Set in Pak Chong, Thailand, W House II is a house designed by IDIN Architects in 2024. The property is elevated to 7 meters (23 feet) with a garden at ground level, creating a single-story effect that emphasizes family interaction. The materials used throughout the house are raw concrete, ensuring a warm tone with maple wood and green India stone that complements the design. The elevated property boasts a swimming pool and a balcony, providing 360-degree views of the area.
Shanghai-based Interior Design firm Tales Creative was invited by long-term client Tengda Construction to create a new office space for the company in the vibrant city of Hangzhou. Designed by Vitor Dias Arquitetura, the three-story residence in Louveira, Brazil spreads across 450m² (4,843 sq ft) while artfully adjusting to its surroundings with a striking low-slope roof.
This Japandi Apartment in Panama City, Panama, designed by Anna Faligowska of PIEKNO Studio, showcases Scandinavian warmth and Japanese calm. Completed in 2025, the apartment captures a thoughtful balance between function and emotion, with soft wood textures, ample natural light, and spaces that evoke a sense of belonging.
