Designed in 2023 by Roovice, Apartment in Kamakura is nestled in Japan’s mountainous region. This residential space underwent a modern transformation, integrating its natural surroundings and featuring exposed structures. The design incorporates a green color scheme in the kitchen and lauan wood details, balancing concrete with warm wooden elements.

OPAL Architecture has nestled a modest home known as Sandbox into Cape Cod’s sand dunes, lined with brightly toned bedrooms, a deck and a neat living room. A “typical gable form” was rotated and extended to provide a series of spaces which are “less private”, such as a garage, located in the middle of the L-shaped home. As the spaces inside become more intimate, rooms were organised with larger and smaller windows set in darkened frames.

Kalei-cà is a renovated apartment in Genoa, Italy, designed by Circolo – A. The transformation features an open space with bold color contrasts, such as intense blue walls in the kitchen, complemented by a pure white worktop.

A bathroom dressed in brick color and geometric cement tiles adds originality, while the living area balances elegance with a mint green cabinet and powder pink sofa. High-quality materials and attention to detail make it a stylish, customizable refuge.

Edificio 55, a historic building in Mérida, Mexico, has been transformed into a hotel by Central de Proyectos SCP. Designed in 2024, the property now subtly marries its historical architecture with contemporary elements. The building, previously a school and medical facility, has retained its original stone walls while incorporating local designed contemporary furniture and new artisanal flooring. This blend of styles creates a vibrant atmosphere and reinforces the hotel’s connection with Mérida’s architectural and cultural heritage.
