Designed in 2020 by Atelier MEME, the Futtsu Weekend House is located in Chiba, Japan. Nestled along the coastline, it features a design that intentionally emphasizes the relationship with its natural surroundings, offering captivating views of both sea and mountains. The home frames its landscapes, capturing the ebb and flow of the ocean and the embrace of densely foliated hills, creating a unique sense of tranquility and liberation from daily life.
Set in Copake Lake, New York, United States, the Copake Lake House is a retreat designed in 2021 by Desai Chia Architecture. The project engages this lakefront property through a series of framed volumetric compositions and material details that capture views to the water. A ritual of leaving behind the bustling urban life begins to unfold the moment one arrives at the carport and enters the home.
The clients presented an extremely narrow site in Thiruvanthapuram, India as part of their design brief. The resultant Narrow Brick House, designed by Srijit Srinivas Architects in 2022, features a house with a generous 117 sq.m. of built-up area on the elongated 283 sq.m. site. The light-touch minimalist approach also finds expression in the various interior design elements like wardrobes, shelving, fenestrations etc– all pared back to the bare minimum required.
Echo Villa is a house located in Taiwan that uses earthy tones and curvilinear forms to emphasise the relationship between architecture and nature. The residence features a 9-meter-high entryway, flowing arcs and a black stone tub that becomes a still mountain pool. Designed by Peny Hsieh Interiors in 2025, the design concept is “Echo of the Earth,” which uses mountain forms and natural rhythms to blend the indoors and outdoors and elevate the daily experience of living art.
Two Arquitetura designed the Arthaus apartment in São Paulo, Brazil, and created a home that intertwines art and comfort. The 750-square-metre residence flows fluidly from room to room, seamlessly integrating various art forms and blending numerous styles, while also remaining a comfortable space for the residents. Boiseries, lighting, and custom carpentry enhance the aesthetics and functionality and provide a backdrop for the couple’s passion for collecting.
Set against the tranquil scenery of Litchfield, CT, the ZN Prototype House crafted by Desai Chia Architecture unveils a groundbreaking perspective on contemporary living. Finalized in 2021, this architectural wonder is designed as a multifaceted assembly of components, allowing for swift construction at diverse locations, featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a storage room, and a freestanding guest house. The home’s design beautifully emphasizes warm materials, modern aesthetics, and expansive views.
Set in the breathtaking hills of Monte Mayor in Benahavis, Spain, Villa MM B8 embraces the captivating beauty of nature and contemporary design, masterfully crafted by A Plus Villas. This refined house seamlessly integrates open spaces and warm textures into its inviting interiors, ensuring every area flows harmoniously into the next. Combining large glass panels and natural materials, Villa MM B8 blurs the boundaries between the stunning surroundings and its elegant living spaces.
Bivacco Brédy is an innovative cabin located in the mountains of Italy by BCW Collective, designed in 2021. The structure is a memorial to Claudio Brédy, an alpinist who tragically lost his life in a climbing accident, symbolizing landscape appreciation and the alpine quality of his life. It features a welcoming interior, with wood panelling and climbing cord bunks, that connects to the stunning views of surrounding mountain peaks.
