Revitalizing a Mid-Century Gem in Lanikai
We had the incredible opportunity to work on a historic oceanfront home in Lanikai, designed by Vladimir Ossipoff. Our forward-thinking clients aimed to honor the home’s mid-century roots while propelling it into the present. A full remodel was undertaken, including relocating the kitchen to the oceanfront, creating an open floor plan with breathtaking views of the Mokulua Islands.
Thoughtful Material Selection
Selecting materials for this home was crucial. We chose a minimal palette with eclectic touches. This approach included concrete floors, custom teak cabinets, lava stone, and glass tiles. We stained the exterior black using Sydney Harbor paints, adding a striking contrast. Custom-designed 3Form sliding barn doors and unique lighting fixtures brought in the eclectic element.
Playful and Modern Interior Design
The final design features playful, modern furniture, adding color that complements the view. This choice keeps the space open and inviting, further accentuated by thoughtful landscaping. The result is a harmonious blend of past and present, offering a fresh take on mid-century design with a modern twist.
