Harmony with the Gauja River Valley
Designed to honor the ancient Gauja river valley’s unique terrain, this holiday home masterfully blends with its environment. The valley’s varied elevations allowed for strategic placement on the steep river bank. From every angle, the home presents a fresh perspective. Prioritizing the client’s privacy, the roadside façade remains modest, revealing just one and a half floors. However, the southern façade, with its three-story expansive glazing, transparently showcases the home’s functions.
A Fusion of Ascetic and Cozy Interiors
Inside, rough concrete plates and extensive glazing dominate, maintaining the home’s minimalist appeal. Natural oak surfaces and meticulously crafted elements, like the fireplace slab and ornamental metal stairs, infuse warmth. The harmonious blend of embedded lighting fixtures—both concealed and hanging—creates diverse illumination experiences. Furthermore, smart home technology enables easy lighting control via smartphone.
