About Ziedlejas Wellness Resort
Discover the Latvian Sauna Tradition at Ziedlejas Wellness Resort
Nestled in the peaceful Latvian countryside, Ziedlejas Wellness Resort offers a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Inspired by the Latvian sauna tradition, the resort has already completed two saunas, with a third in progress.
The ‘Baltā Pirts’: A Modern Take on the Traditional White Sauna
The first sauna, known as the ‘baltā pirts’ (white sauna), is a concrete structure carefully built into the hillside to maintain the picturesque view from the guest cabins. The white sauna takes advantage of natural light and its close proximity to the pond, perfect for a refreshing dip. Local natural materials such as wood, herbs, and linen were used to create a warm and inviting interior.
Experience an Authentic Smoke Sauna with the ‘Melnā Pirts’
Constructed from spruce, the more traditional ‘melnā pirts’ (smoke sauna) is tucked away in the woods, offering a primeval experience. While maintaining the traditional purpose of a sauna, the design incorporates enhanced functionality and aesthetics for a modern touch.
Corten Steel and Glass Cabins: Multifunctional Accommodations
In 2020, four corten steel and glass cabins were introduced to accommodate overnight guests. Serving as tea houses during the day and bedrooms at night, these cabins provide a multifunctional space for visitors. The glass front allows for unobstructed views of the stunning landscape, and guests can even create their own herbal tea blends using herbs picked from neighboring patches.
A Collaborative Effort to Create a Slow-Living Experience
Ziedlejas Wellness Resort encourages guests to take their time and truly unwind. Open AD has been collaborating with the resort owners and Landshape landscape architecture firm since the project’s inception to bring this serene sanctuary to life.
