Cottage Two Sisters: Rustic Charm Meets Modern Elegance
Cottage Two Sisters, designed by Denisa Strmiskova Studio in 2023, is a quaint family cottage perched in the Czech mountains. It mirrors traditional Jizera architecture, combining custom-made wooden elements and Jesenice shingle roofing.
Inside, the design skillfully blends the past and present, using a mix of woods, metals, and warm orange accents. This fusion creates a rustic yet contemporary ambiance, enhanced by custom joinery and refurbished vintage pieces.
About Cottage Two Sisters
Historical Charm Meets Modern Craftsmanship
Perched atop the Czech mountains, the cottage is a near-perfect replica of its historical original. It served as a permanent family home in the mountains. The facade showcases Jizera architecture’s traditional practices. Custom-made wooden elements adorn the cottage, and Jesenice shingles cover the roof. Additionally, the functional double-glazed windows mimic traditional designs.
A Blend of Timeless and Contemporary Design
The furniture design straddles the line between historical and modern styles. We’ve skillfully mixed various woods, metals, and light tones, adding warm orange accents throughout the spaces. The furniture, simple in shape, features high-quality metal and solid wood. Craftsmen in joinery workshops custom-make each piece, and some involve refurbishing old furniture and lighting.
Creating a Cohesive Living Space
This approach results in a cohesive living space, blending old and new. The furniture’s simplicity complements the cottage’s rustic charm, while the modern materials and colors inject a contemporary flair. The custom joinery and refurbished pieces add unique character to each room, seamlessly uniting history with modern living.
