Kessler is a remarkable house designed by PKA Architecture, perfectly situated in Deephaven, Minnesota. This 7,400 square foot (686 sq m) residence serves as a year-round lakeside escape. The design focuses on functionality while ensuring a cozy atmosphere for families. Nestled in a peaceful area, the home is a sanctuary for a family downsizing from a larger residence nearby.
Unique Architectural Elements
The design process for Kessler revolved around a significant feature: a large painting that would become a focal point in the dining room. Measuring approximately 10 feet by 10 feet (3 m x 3 m), this artwork influenced the entire layout. PKA Architecture integrated various unique elements, ensuring that both aesthetics and practicality meld seamlessly.

An essential design concern was balancing privacy with the desire for natural light. The team utilized channel glass, allowing transparency while maintaining the home’s seclusion.
