Studio Zout Ontwerphuis has designed a contemporary and welcoming interior for Villa Rosmalen in the Netherlands, incorporating innovative materials from Ideal Work. This home features the classic exterior of a countryside cottage, but the interior radiates a modern, industrial vibe. Incorporating Microtopping and Purometallo products, Studio Zout Ontwerphuis ensured the interiors reflect a minimalistic aesthetic, balancing neutral tones with sleek metals.
Brick exterior and thatched roof
Studio Zout Ontwerphuis has completed a house in the Netherlands that appears like a classic cottage from the outside, but the interiors offer a contemporary, minimalist twist.
Named Villa Rosmalen, the building features exposed brick walls, a thatched roof, and an alluring modernity.
A glass entrance accented with industrial metal inserts draws natural light indoors. Minimalist furniture in neutral tones decorates the patio, complemented with a well-manicured garden and an inviting pool positioned quaintly in front.

Neutral tones and metal details
The entrance opens into a corridor leading to the home’s numerous rooms, forming a fluid structure across two floors.
On the ground level, the living space intermingles with the kitchen and day-to-day activity rooms, while the upper floor is dedicated to sleeping areas.
The first-floor ceilings are defined by white beams, and the second floor’s open ceilings lend airiness to the interiors alongside light-hued tones and clever use of natural light.
Industrial touches
The materials seamlessly complement one another, with microcement serving as the unifying element throughout the home.
For this house, Microtopping Ideal Work, a versatile polymeric cementitious coating, was selected. Implemented on ground floor surfaces, it envelops the kitchen table and fireplace.

The kitchen exudes a traditional style defined by a large marble countertop juxtaposed with a significant fireplace and vertical coffee-coloured ceramic tiles.
The “on-trend” day zone showcases a Microtopping-coated wavy table in stark contrast with dark parquet flooring.
Colored transitions exist within the home, interspersed with metallic details that adhere to an industrial look.
Living room and kitchen floors are refined with bronze lines made of Purometallo Ideal Work, a decorative coating composed of metallic powders enhancing walls and furniture elements, creating a dynamic duo with Microtopping.
The floating stairs, also enveloped in Microtopping, connect both floors, disappearing amidst the scope of the space, leading to the master bedroom.
It boasts remarkably high, sloping ceilings alongside a bathroom area constructed out of Microtopping as well.
A minimalistic, modern style seamlessly integrates the wet areas with adjacent space, adding a spatial spaciousness quality.
