Bal House Creates Tranquil Experience with Water Elements

Bal House integrates water as a defining design element in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Designed by Remyarchitects in 2024, this house features a mix of exposed concrete, wood, and glass.

A modern, multi-level building with concrete and wood accents, surrounded by lush greenery.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Casa Bal is the integration of water into its design. It not only serves as an aesthetic resource in connection with the natural landscape of the river, but it also actively incorporates itself into the design as a key element that defines the spaces.

The design materializes in a combination of exposed concrete, wood, and glass, creating a structure that balances the solidity and warmth of the materials. The horizontal elements of concrete provide firmness, while the wood softens the overall composition, and the glass allows for a sense of visual lightness, connecting the interior spaces with the surroundings.

The main entrance invites a journey accompanied by landscaping and a water mirror, generating a tranquil experience from the moment of arrival. Upon entering, the travertine floor extends from the ground to the wall of the hall, guiding the views toward the landscape.

On the ground floor, the hall connects to the social area, where the double-height living room becomes the focal point. This space opens up to the exterior, surrounded by a water mirror that creates a sense of continuity between the house and its natural environment.

On the upper floor, a family room overlooking the double-height living room serves as a transition space between the master bedroom and the children’s bedrooms. These spaces enjoy expansive views of the river and the green landscape, integrating the surroundings with the home’s design.
