Studio Krubka has completed CLUB21 One Bangkok, a design that reflects “The Anatomy of Luxury and Desire”, dictating the Thai brand’s ethos.

Situated in a complex of mixed-use high-rises, the interior references the “bustling marketplace that once occupied this site”, imbuing the building with historic textures.

A modern industrial-style space with wooden furnishings, arched cabinetry, and hanging lights.
“We create a unique narrative that reflects both the past and the present,” said Studio Krubka.

CLUB21 consists of wooden shelves and slatted metal units, illuminated by coloured LED lighting.

Sleek industrial lighting accentuates a contemporary interior with ornate fixtures.

Remnants of cloth and paint are draped over metal rods to create displays. They vary in scale, form and texture and add warmth to the space.

“We embraced the themes of ‘construction’ and ‘occupation’, introducing and injecting different phases,” said the Thai studio.

Ornate wooden furnishings, intricate tile flooring, and dramatic lighting create a striking ecclesiastical atmosphere.
“Khun Khun Khun Pavanaree Tohsaeng (Brand Director of Club21 Thailand) has always collected denim jeans from eight years old,” said Studio Krubka. “We incorporated her personal archive into the design of one of the stores as part of the ‘Collector’ spirit.”

Antique furniture, acquired over ten years, fills these rooms. Placed on metal rods that look like construction scaffolding, these objects include wood rollers and open shelving.

As more areas were repurposed the process moved from “raw and unfinished to polished and complete”.

“This dynamic approach invites visitors to journey through a landscape that is continually evolving,” added Studio Krubka.

According to the design team, the installation encourages a more meaningful shopping experience.

“Through this concept, we invite visitors to engage with the store on a deeper level, fostering a connection that transcends the mere act of shopping,” said Studio Krubka.

Studio Krubka is based in Bangkok. Other historic references have been made in contemporary designs elsewhere in the city, including an innovative surface made of tamarind shells.
