The residential design studio Studio Vural has completed the interior design of the Central Park South Condo in New York, NY, United States, in 2024. The 2,000-square-foot apartment blends sleek modernism with earthy brown tones.
Modern Sleekness Meets Comfort
The team at Studio Vural redesigned the apartment with a comprehensive transformation, resulting in a space that exudes a refined pied-à-terre charm. The youthful, dynamic layout caters to both the casual lifestyle of the clients and their intent to entertain family regularly.
Details in Woodwork and Marble
The living room and kitchen feature local white oak woodwork, treated with a careful mix of brown and mineral-gray stains. This neutral background allows for additional elements to stand out, adding personality and variety to the rooms.

One standout feature is the Italian Sepreggiante slab marble, a consistent design element found in all areas of the space, from the front of the apartment to the bathrooms. This material’s organic texture and pattern creates cohesion and continuity, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
According to Studio Vural, these natural materials are integral to their design philosophy. The selection of rich textures and warm hues aids in crafting a seamless, cohesive interior that maintains a sense of intrinsic sophistication.
Bronze-Clad Fireplace Adds Drama
A key area within the open-plan is the living area, anchored by a striking bronze-clad fireplace wall designed by Del Bello Interiors. Against the matte bronze finishes, textured wallpaper provides a bright but balanced background.
The interplay of contrasting textures adds depth and intrigue to the space, inviting the eye to explore every detail – an essential part of the apartment’s adaptive open-plan layout.
“The unique design plan ensures the space functions as both a service counter for events and a centralized dining area with ample leg space,” the studio explained, emphasizing the flexibility integrated into specific aspects of the apartment.

Evolving Manhattan Lifestyles Reflected
A notable aspect of the designers’ creation is the lack of a dining table, indicative of “a growing trend toward sleeker, modern renovations.” The apartment’s kitchen island serves multiple purposes, a decision made consciously to accommodate the clients’ minimalist approach and desire for practicality.
Studio Vural noted that this design theme echoes a broader cultural shift within Manhattan, representing a transformative phase of heritage into innovation.
Once favored colonial historicism is evolving into sleek, modern spaces, capturing the essence of Manhattan’s changing identity and the balanced dichotomy between past traditions and contemporary creativity.
