Plus is a apartment located in Taichung City, Taiwan, designed by Haven Space Design and employing a minimalist and functional ethos. Stepping into the home, you’re first greeted by a thoughtfully designed entryway, where a suspended wooden grille adds both warmth and a sense of ceremony to the act of coming home. Beside it, a full-height mirror subtly reflects the interior, visually expanding the space while offering ease to daily routines before heading out.
Sculptural Entryway Transforms House Into Plus Apartment
Stepping into the home, you’re first greeted by a thoughtfully designed entryway.
A suspended wooden grille, almost sculptural in presence, pairs with a soft, upward strip light to gently shift the mood—adding both warmth and a sense of ceremony to the act of coming home. Beside it, a full-height mirror subtly reflects the interior, visually expanding the space while offering a touch of ease to daily routines before heading out.
A platform and open shelf extend seamlessly from the entryway toward the kitchen and dining area, creating a storage zone for the coffee machine and daily essentials. The floating design, supported by slender metal brackets, introduces clean and airy lines that echo the space’s overall minimalist and functional ethos.
Subtle Architectural Features Enhance Daily Living
As you move into the communal area, the ceiling curves into a soft arch that envelops the view. This gentle arc not only softens the original beams but also conceals ducted HVAC systems and vents—guiding the flow of the space and setting a calm, open rhythm for daily life.
During the pre-construction phase, a +1 room originally located behind the living area was reimagined as an open reading nook. A low partition in burnt orange wood adds a subtle punch of character, while a set of movable bookends is cleverly integrated into the built-in wall design—striking a thoughtful balance between utility and aesthetics.

There’s no loud design here—just well-placed details, quietly resting where they’re most needed. At every turn, these gentle finishes invite you to slow down. They are our sincere annotations—an honest response to the homeowners’ hopes for this space.
