VB Apartment by FRS Arquitetura
Located in Salvador, Brazil, VB Apartment spans 255 square meters. Designed by FRS Arquitetura, the space prioritizes expansive ocean views and generous daylight. The project features a minimal partition design and integrates natural materials, including Nogueira wood and limestone, elevating the apartment’s atmosphere. Signature modernist furniture pieces stand out against layers of personal items and art curation, promoting a strong connection to this unique space.

Spatial Flow Enhancing Daylight Penetration
Located in Salvador, Bahia, the 255 sqm Apartamento VB was designed by FRSArquitetura for a couple entering a new stage of life. With their children having moved out, the clients envisioned a home that would continue to host family gatherings and moments of hospitality. The expansive ocean view served as both a starting point and a constant backdrop for the design strategy, guiding the integration of the interiors and establishing a direct relationship between domestic life and the surrounding landscape.
Maximizing Openness to Create Conviviality
The floor plan was conceived to enhance spatial flow and allow generous daylight penetration. Living, dining and balcony areas are interconnected in a continuous sequence, with minimal fixed partitions, maximizing openness and encouraging conviviality. The architectural concept also emphasizes the original openings, which frame the coastal setting and enable cross ventilation and thermal comfort.
Materiality Shapes the Apartment’s Atmosphere
Materiality plays a central role in shaping the apartment’s atmosphere. Nogueira wood, used in wall paneling, custom joinery and window frames, acts as a unifying element across the interiors. In contrast, surfaces in natural stone, such as limestone and various types of marble, introduce tactile richness and visual depth. Natural fabrics and organic textures complement the finishes, while the furniture, selected in hues that resonate with the wood tones, ensures visual harmony and sensory comfort.
Modernist Furniture Pieces Challenge Compositions
One of the key distinguishing elements of the project is the dialogue established between modernist furniture pieces, selected as focal elements within the composition, and personal items belonging to the residents. The art curation, carried out by the studio itself, reinforces the identity of the interiors and lends a sense of uniqueness to each room, creating a layered connection between architecture and memory.
An Approach Centered on Warmth and Enduring Bonds
By combining natural materials, signature furniture and a strong connection to the seascape, FRS Arquitetura proposes in Apartamento VB a residential approach centered on permanence, warmth and the celebration of enduring bonds.
