Villa Ganymede by LUASA architects

Villa Ganymede is a house in Bali, Indonesia, by LUASA architects. The project pursues modern tropical living through deep roof overhangs, shaded terraces, and generous sliding doors that dissolve edges between rooms and garden. Inside, double-height volumes and floor-to-ceiling glass carry daylight across polished floors and quiet, open-plan arrangements, while outdoor rooms align with the pool and palms to extend daily routines into the breeze.

Morning light glances off a dark, polished floor before lifting into a tall volume. A deep roof line and shaded terraces pull the air across rooms, then out toward water.

This is a house in Bali by LUASA architects, planned around a modern tropical brief. Sliding doors, wide overhangs, and open terraces form the backbone of the climate strategy, keeping rooms bright yet protected. The mood stays casual and social, with daily life drifting between interior lounges and garden courts.

Shade And Breeze

Overhangs trace long, crisp lines that temper sun and invite cross-ventilation. Their reach works like a porch logic: glare softens, and doors can stay open through heat and passing showers. A vivid red canopy stretches over the outdoor dining court, throwing a cool cast beneath while marking the social heart. Beneath it, an alfresco kitchen and tables sit within arm’s reach of the lawn and pool.

Open Edges

Walls give way to wide sliding glass, so thresholds read as gentle steps rather than barricades. Terraces run flush with living areas, letting furniture arrangements migrate by the hour—coffee at dawn, dinner close to the garden after dusk. The front approach sets the tone, with a tall timber door framed by glass and a small courtyard planting that cools the entry. Views align across rooms to greenery, which keeps the eye traveling.

Tall Heart

A double-height living hall anchors the plan and collects daylight. A sculptural spiral stair rises from the glossy floor, its dark sweep contrasting with pale walls and slim vertical fins that give rhythm to the façade. Above, a mezzanine edge holds seating and art, linking upper rooms while preserving volume below. The scale brings air movement and a sense of release after the compressed entry.

Water At The Threshold

The pool wraps close to terraces so swimmers and loungers stay connected to kitchen, dining, and living. Low decks set red daybeds just over the water, an easy cue for unhurried afternoons. At night, the ensemble glows—canopy, glass walls, and soffits casting a soft light that reflects into the water. Garden planting tucks against concrete and plaster planes, cooling edges and lending privacy.

Daily Flow

Inside, the open kitchen holds a long island under a linear pendant, with pale cabinetry and a dark base tying back to the main hall. Meals pivot outdoors without ceremony, thanks to level thresholds and deep shade. The dining area sits against floor-to-ceiling glazing and a textured wall panel, so conversation carries while the view stays present. Rooms feel connected yet calm, tuned to breeze, light, and the easy routine of tropical living.

By late evening, shadows collect under the overhangs as the pool cools the air. The house settles into the garden, its edges relaxed and its rooms open to the night.
