Palm Residence: Warm Minimalism in a Layered Beverly Hills House
Palm Residence is a private house in Beverly Hills, United States, designed by Daniel Joseph Chenin. The interiors move between sociable entertaining rooms and quiet upper-level retreats, always balancing structure and warmth. Across living, dining, cinema, and primary suite, the project reads as a composed progression of moods rather than a single statement.

About Palm Residence
Luxury is a study in balance, knowing when to lean into grandeur and when to pull back.
At Palm, a private Beverly Hills residence, Daniel Joseph Chenin, FAIA creates an interior that shifts between vibrant social gatherings and quiet moments of retreat, blending structure with fluidity and sophistication with warmth.
An invitation to gather. At the heart of the home, the living room is designed for effortless entertaining. A stone-clad fireplace anchors the room, offset by an acrylic-on-canvas painting by Jeff Peters. A custom back bar, once a standalone feature, is now an intentional architectural element, integrated directly into the composition. Sculptural furnishings, swivel lounge chairs by Axis Furniture, tailored sofas by Bright Chair Company, and Jean De Merry coffee tables introduce a rhythmic interplay between softness and structure. A Scott Group area rug reinforces this dialogue, its subtle grid pattern echoing the surrounding elements.
Beyond, the dining rooms unfold with a material-driven narrative. A round Randolph & Hein table, paired with Minotti Fil Noir chairs, offers an intimate yet refined setting, while the formal dining room makes a bolder statement. A substantial wood dining table, framed by Minotti Mills chairs in chartreuse velvet, is grounded by a custom bronze foot rail. Overhead, the Luna Kaleido Chandelier by Gabriel Scott injects a sculptural element, loosening the formality with fluid elegance.
A cinematic descent. The lower level transitions into a moody retreat, designed for late-night gatherings and film screenings. A composed palette of deep hues, layered textures, and dramatic lighting sets the tone. A custom stone-patterned rug echoes the veining of the backlit onyx wall panels, while plush seating from Allan Knight, Linteloo, Una Malan, and José Martinez Medina builds a richly layered environment. Low, sculptural tables in stone, wood, and metal punctuate the room, balancing function with artistry.
At its center, a linear fireplace sits within a dark millwork wall, crowned by an Andy Warhol silkscreen print. The contrast between its bold pop-art aesthetic and the sultry ambiance introduces a playful irreverence. In contrast to the structured, symmetrical entertaining rooms above, this level embraces asymmetry, nurturing a more relaxed, lounge-like energy.
The whisper of retreat. While the lower levels invite connection, the upper floor is shaped for restoration. The primary suite is a study in serene materiality—upholstered wall accents, a Holly Hunt bed, and a black stone fireplace establish a tranquil setting. A painting by Francois Bonnel, with soft curves and tonal shifts, deepens the retreat-like character of the room, reinforcing the home’s balance between refinement and ease.
A living expression of balance. Palm is more than a beautifully appointed residence; it is a sustained play of contrast. Light and shadow, structure and fluidity, grandeur and intimacy coexist in a composition that reframes modern living. Daniel Joseph Chenin crafts a home that feels immersive and intentional, closely tuned to the rhythms of its inhabitants.
